Friday Favorites

After seeing this post from my friend AND noticing that it's time to delete this very empty board on Pinterest, I bring you my Friday favorites:

1) BBW Aromatherapy Lemon Zest Body Wash
Once upon a time, I was a teacher.  And in order to make sure I could have a little play money left over after bills, I worked at Bath & Body Works.  (Side note: I soon realized I might as well work there for free.  Sales + employee discount = lots of fun & no play money for Laura)

Anyways, there are a few items I discovered that I will always have stocked up in my house.  This is one of them.  Honestly, anything from the BBW Aromatherapy line is worth the purchase (wait for their semi-annual sale or a coupon for a real steal!).  This is a new scent that came out recently that I am in love with.

Here's why:
A) You don't get out of the shower smelling like Pledge.
B) Your bathroom and room don't smell like Pledge.
C) You actually feel energized when you're done with your shower!

**I'm not hating on Pledge...I just don't want to smell like it.  After seeing this commercial, I'm realizing how amazing that stuff is**

Other honorable mentions: Eucalyptus Spearmint (great for men & women) & Black Currant Vanilla.

2) Voluspa Santiago Huckleberry Tins

These candles are ridiculously amazing.  Just to show you how much I am obsessed love these candles, here's a little story.  I was given a $100 gift certificate to Anthropologie a few months ago.  Naturally with each visit, I could not find a thing to wear that I wanted to buy--and I tried a TON of stuff on too.  So, I resorted to doing what any person would do in my situation...and I bought candles.

Eighty. Nine. Dollars worth of candles.

[Don't judge...]

They're that fabulous.  Simply.  Fabulous.

Honorable mentions: Goji Tarocco Orange and Crisp Champagne. TRY THEM!!!!

3) Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day Surface Wipes

I don't love cleaning my bathroom.  I clean it, of course, but it's not my favorite...at all.  In between cleanings, however, I use these.  They clean just as well as any Lysol product (without all the chemicals of course) AND they smell amazing!!

That's it for now!!  Stay tuned each week to see what I find next!

**Completely aware that this may evolve into a bi-monthly or monthly post, but here's to ambition!!!

Inspiration for the Day

If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.   ~Anne Bradstreet

**In case you're wondering, there isn't some artistic/emotional connection to the picture & quote.  Just liked them both =)

Hope you're having a great start to your week!

Keeping Calm & Carrying On

Some days, that's all you can do, right?

Life has been relatively calm since I finished working on my last show.  Curious??  It's been a month of catching up on dentist/doctor appointments, un-pinned interests, having a social life...so nothing terribly exciting.  Of course, there was the amazing weekend at Disney World w/ Jay & his family AND a week helping out my sister-in-law with their newest addition, so all in all, it's been a good month.

Granted, even after wearing myself down for ten days straight, I didn't think a stuffy nose from a 2yr old would wreak havoc on me...but it did.  And here I am.  Five days later (yes, in my pajamas) and still not fully recovered.

[Sigh]

There were a few anxious weeks as I juggled the decision to move on to another show or spend the next few months (or more) searching for a completely new job in a new field.  After some careful consideration, I decided that another travel coordinating gig wouldn't be that painful...especially considering it's with this guy.  I don't know much about the movie other than that it's a period piece (yippee!!), but you can check out any updates here as we move along.

So, in a few weeks, I'll be back to work.  In the meantime, hoping to knock out some of this list, but we'll see =)

One day at a time, Laura.  One day...

Btw, if you're curious where "Keep Calm & Carry On" came from, here's your history lesson for today.

Enjoy!!

Winter Thoughts

There is a privacy about it which no other season gives you.... In spring, summer and fall people sort of have an open season on each other; only in the winter can you have longer, quiet stretches when you can savor belonging to yourself.  ~Ruth Stout

It's been a while, huh?

These last few months have left little time/motivation for blogging as the unavoidable task called WORK suddenly consumed my life.  My writing fell by the wayside as travel memos & weekend interruptions became a incessant part of my day.  Any free time I had was devoted to cleaning, groceries, laundry and the occasional hanging out with friends.

Fortunately, things like Pinterest and the occasional novel have kept me inspired and helped me through those times when I wanted nothing more than to just go home, turn off my phone, and crawl into bed.  I still have those days, but there is light at the end of the tunnel--we have less than a month and I will be done!!

What comes next?  Only He knows...

I do know, however, that meeting my newest nephew is on the list.  I'll head to Lexington about a week after he arrives to help with my brother & sister-in-law's three other children.  Yes, four children total...I don't know how you mothers do it...

After that, I'm sure I'll be focusing a bit more on this list and on my writing...and savoring that time of belonging to myself =)

Since it's been a while (and I've neglected to post anything to FB), here's a peek at some of the good times I've had over the past few months...
Being Slash & Axl Rose for Halloween
FINALLY making it up to Washington, DC and Arlington (Thanks to AC, Tyler, & Amy!)
My NEW car!!! 2012 Altima Sports Edition =)
SEC Championship--Geaux Tigers!!!!
Here's to a new year!!

Breakfast for Dinner

Working a 12-14hr shift lends itself to some dreaming...

{don't worry, not saving any lives here}

...and right now, it's what I would be making for dinner if I was home right now.

Without a doubt, it would be BREAKFAST.

And these are even Gluten Free!!
My appreciation for eating breakfast at the wrong time of day started early.  Remember Disney Sunday night movies!?!?  That was the only night we were allowed to sit & eat in front of the TV, so you can imagine the excitement surrounding a night of Michael Eisner and scrambled eggs.

You can never go wrong with eggs...
Over time, breakfast on Sunday nights kind of became a tradition in our family....and honestly, it's something I want to carry on with mine one day.

Just in case you really like eggs =)
But for right now, that dinner will have to wait.

Instead, I'm still at work noshing on carrots, hummus, and the occasional handful of chocolate covered raisins.  But a girl can still dream...

The Lazy Days are Over...

It's only natural that after several weeks of traveling and spending time with family & friends that I find myself having a very abrupt end of summer.

Guess after almost four months of fun, that's bound to happen, huh? =)

Honestly, it was about that time.  Despite keeping busy with friends, an extensive reading list, boot camp and a new blog, I was getting antsy and knew it was time to get back to work.  Fortunately, GA is B.U.S.Y.

As many of you know, I work in the film industry as a travel coordinator for TV & films shot all around Georgia.  I've had the privilege of working with some incredibly talented, genuine, & well, just plain 'ole nice folks...and then, on the other hand, I've had to work with what I'll refer to as The Others.

(If you have no idea what I'm talking about,  check out this show or this book for some help)

Unfortunately, I can't quite go into the various stories of the amazing/awful actors I've dealt with, but needless to say, it's an interesting job.

So, back to work for me--the reading list may suffer, but the new car & finished script are closer in the horizon =)
